From the ground up
Protecting the building from ground water is a must. Selection of material for this purpose should be made by taking into account the sites specific conditions. For example – It would be ill-advised to use a peel & stick membrane such as Shelterseal or Bitubond in a situation where there is risk of hydrostatic pressure occurring. Here, you would want to use a torch-on membrane – get in touch to find out why.
Cost can be a factor. Many clients feel that they want the ‘bulletproof’ option for that extra peace of mind and this normally comes with extra cost. Moving from a 1.6mm thick peel & stick to the likes of a 4mm thick torch-on product will inevitably increase costs due to the extra labour content involved in getting the material onto the wall. Ask yourself if you really need the material upgrade, because sometimes the cheaper option will perform perfectly well and you still only get the same warranty…
