Membrane Roofing

Whether it’s a flat roof or a deck on your home or a commercial building we’ve got you covered.

We take a ‘horses for courses’ approach when it comes to making decisions on which material should be used and where. Having over thirty years experience with applying membrane in our memory banks gives us a good idea of what works best in certain situations. We aren’t architects who get a sales job done on them and specify whatever the latest thing is. If you ask us to recommend a product we’ll take into account your projects specifics and your expected outcomes.

Our roofing arsenal :

Butyl Rubber – A staple of the industry in NZ for many years and still relevant today. This membrane is traffic-able (you can walk on it) and hence is an ideal option for a walk-out deck area. Also ideal for commercial gutters. Limitations exist with sheet width so on larger areas this material becomes slow to apply.

TPO – The thermoplastic polyolefin membrane is great for large areas of roof as it comes in rolls up to 3.6m in width. The added benefit of heat welded joints. Also great for gutters. This material is non-traffic-able and so when used on a walkout deck it must be covered with a floating timber deck or tiles on pedestals.

Torch On – Reinforced modified bitumen on a roll. An archaic system but one that is still used a lot because of it’s finished thickness and durability. Being a multi-layer system and utilising open flame gas torches this material is the most time consuming and labour intensive of all of the membranes to apply. The risk of fire is always present when applying these membranes and careful consideration needs to be given when deciding when and where to use this product. Non-traffic-able and if used on a walk-out deck area needs to be covered with a floating timber deck or tiles on pedestals.

Liquids – We use our liquid membranes primarily as a maintenance solution for older roofs. Giving an old butynol roof a good clean and a then coating it with the likes of Silcoat (a 100% silicone membrane) is a great way to extend the life of your roof without going to the expense of ripping everything up and re-laying with a brand new membrane.
